1. Assignments for public speaking are linked on this page.

2. The purpose of public Speaking in the ROTC program is to prepare the cadets for leadership of the flight, squadron, and wing. Speaking also builds the confidence of cadets through facing peers and informing or persuading. Public speaking enhances citizenship though knowledge of current argumentation topics. This is only an introduction to a course that would takes multiple semesters in college to complete.

  Gavel Club meets between September and May of each school year. This club is a student led, Toastmaster's sponsored club that encourages youth public speaking. Meetings are held in the Monroe Country Club the third Thursday of each month.

The American Legion sponsors a national oratorical contest each year that focuses on high school age public speaking. The topics are limited to the Constitution of the United States.
